The Credit Union representatives group was informally established in the late 1970’s and comprised initially of civil servants working in various Government Departments with a mandate to spread the credit union message.

In 2006 this group of approximately 60 credit unionists formed the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Limited Representatives Association. The new body elected an operational Executive Committee of seven members and formulated a constitution. This initiative allowed them to put formal procedures in place for them to meet as a group to share information and experiences as well as provide a clear channel for sending and receiving feedback to and from the credit union.

The credit union provides routine and special training for all representatives to keep them informed about developments and also facilitates training in areas of personal development so that our representatives can function effectively on our behalf.

These credit union advocates have become a much-valued resource within their departments and work groups for their colleagues seeking information on either joining the credit union or accessing the credit union’s services.
