In keeping with our mandate to encourage the continuous development of our members we offer the following educational incentives for Thrift Club members:
Scholarship awards

  • for outstanding achievements in the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examinations (11+)
  • for outstanding achievements in the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) Examinations
  • in recognition of attainment of Barbados Government Exhibitions
  • in recognition of attainment of Barbados Government Scholarships

AWARDS CRITERIA

Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examinations (11+) Click to download form

  • These cash awards (BDS$750.00 each) are granted to the top 10 boys and top 10 girls, respectively, who submit their results from that year’s Secondary Schools Entrance Examination, commonly known as the Eleven-Plus Exam. These awards are open to Thrift Club members.
  • Thrift Club members must have been enrolled for at least 2 years (24 months) prior to the exam with a minimum of $250.00 on their account as at May 31st of the relevant year.


Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) Examinations Click to download form

  • These cash awards (BDS$1,000.00 each) are granted to the first 10 boys and 10 girls, who submit their results and who have attained a minimum of four (4) Grade 1 passes and three (3) Grade 2 passes in C.X.C examinations in one academic year.
  • Thrift Club members must have been enrolled for at least 2 years (24 months) prior to the exam with a minimum of $500.00 as at May 31st of the relevant year.
  • Copies of the student’s exam results must also be submitted.


Barbados Government Exhibitions & Scholarships (C.A.P.E) Click to download form

  • These cash awards (BDS$1,500.00 and BDS$2,000.00 respectively) are granted to each member who submits satisfactory evidence of the award by the Barbados Government.
  • Awardees must have been members for at least 2 years (24 months) prior to the award with a minimum of $500.00 on their account as at May 31st of the relevant year.
  • Written proof of advice of the award from the Ministry of Education must be submitted.


Deadlines for submission of results are set by the Business Development & Planning Department in conjunction with the Marketing Department. Presentations of the above awards are made during the Annual Thrift Club Awards Ceremony on Saturday August 28th, 2011.
